The Mailbox is delivering a host of events for food and drink lovers when it stages a summer extravaganza.
Taste of the Mailbox takes place from Monday August 7 to Sunday August 13 at the upmarket venue.
The week will include exclusive food events, masterclasses, tastings, live demonstrations and complimentary food samplings in the Urban Room and Canalside area.
Be quick to snap up tickets because they’ll sell fast.
Here’s the schedule of events.
Taste of the Mailbox Food Tour
This takes place on Friday August 11 and is brilliant for foodies who fancy dining at the Mailbox but can’t decide which restaurant to choose.
You’ll be part of an intimate group of 12 fellow foodies taken on a tour to enjoy an aperitif, starter, main and dessert at four of our restaurants, including Harvey Nichols, Gas Street Social, Tom’s Kitchen and Chez Mal.
For just £50 per person (excluding VAT and booking fee), you’ll be treated to a signature dish from each restaurant with a matching wine or cocktail.
Taking place in a private dining room or secluded area of each of the restaurants, experts will also be on hand to talk you through their chosen dish and take your questions.
Seafood feast and masterclass
Taking place Saturday August 12 at 12pm and 3pm, this features Lap-fai Lee (aka The Foodist).
The Birmingham-based cook, tutor, food stylist and photographer hosts two exclusive Asian seafood masterclasses at the Mailbox’s sleek kitchen showroom, Kitchen Gallery.
Under Lap’s supervision, you’ll try your hands at making salmon avocado sushi rolls and aburi salmon nigiri; grilled scallops with soy butter and Japanese shichimi seven spice; steamed whole fish with pickled chilli; and red curry king prawns.
Once the hands-on part is complete, you’ll get to sit down and enjoy your delicious seafood feast in Kitchen Gallery’s luxurious dining room.
There are two sessions in total and each session accommodates up to eight people.
Tickets cost just £30 (excluding VAT and booking fee). Book early to avoid disappointment.
Wine tasting with Harvey Nichols and Jane Parkinson
This is another event on Saturday August 12.
Jane Parkinson is an award-winning UK-based journalist, author and broadcaster who specialises in wine, and wine with food.
As well as her role as wine expert on BBC1 Saturday Kitchen Live, Jane writes for the likes of Stylist, Telegraph Food & Drink, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle.
Join Jane and Harvey Nichols’ wine specialist Siofra O’Brien as they guide you through a range of contemporary and classic wines accompanied by cheese plates.
Tickets cost £12 (excluding booking fee & VAT) and are redeemable up to the value of £10 per person in-store at Harvey Nichols’ Wine Shop on the day.
Harvey Nichols and The Wilderness
Harvey Nichols is teaming up with iconic Birmingham restaurant The Wilderness on Sunday August 13 for a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the traditional English holiday.
This one-night only collaboration will see much-applauded The Wilderness’s chef-patron Alex Claridge take over the kitchen at the luxury store to create an unusual spin on British summertime.
Inspired by his own childhood holiday experiences, the evening will include an exciting six-course dinner, while the star attraction will be The Wilderness’s customised Gothic ice cream van.
The Wilderness will also take over the Harvey Nichols bar to offer a selection of drinks matched to the dishes, as well as a menu of specially-created cocktails.
Tickets for the restaurant are already sold out but there are still spaces for the bar event.
