Fishy Flowers

Looks good, doesn’t it? Tasted pretty good, too. And it was healthy and cheap.

The briefly-fried prawns came from the excellent Pearce’s Shellfish at Birmingham Indoor Market and cost less than £10 for a pound. The yellow courgettes were from my garden and were uncooked – simply cut into thin ribbons on my mandolin and marinated for an hour or so in olive oil, lemon juice and garlic.

The peppery nasturtium leaves and flowers came were neighbours of the courgette plants. With the addition of a few slivers of almonds from the cupboard to add crunch and sweetness, it was a dish of summer flavours and made a great starter.
