Fancy a Chinese-style Christmas feast?

Birmingham’s award-winning Chung Ying group of restaurants have revealed their Christmas menus – with turkey, fizz and karaoke on the list.

The long-established Chung Ying Cantonese is offering a dim sum platter, turkey yuk shung, fillet of beef Cantonese-style, crisp sea bass in sweet and sour sauce, king prawns with garlic, chilli and sugar snap peas, chicken with green peppers in black bean sauce, stir-fried mixed vegetables, vegetarian Singapore noodles and egg-fried rice.


The price is £28 per person for six people or more and includes a glass of prosecco or Tsing Tao beer.
For £10, customers can upgrade to the deluxe option and add to the banquet crisp aromatic duck with pancakes and fried lobster tails with ginger, chilli and spring onions.
Chung Ying Cantonese, which opened in 1981 and has won a string of accolades, recently underwent a major refurbishment.
It’s one of Chinatown’s landmarks.


Its (slightly) younger sister Chung Ying Gardens, located nearby, is serving up a dim sum platter, crisp aromatic duck with pancakes, salt and pepper chicken wings, spare ribs Peking-style, crisp shredded lamb Thai-style, fillet of beef in black bean sauce, king prawns with lychee, lemon and honey chicken, stir-fried mixed vegetables, egg-fried rice and vegetarian Singapore noodles.
The price is £28 per person for six or more people and includes a karaoke disco.
A £10 upgrade adds steamed scallops with ginger and lobster with ginger and spring onion to the banquet.
It opened in 1987 and celebrates its 30th anniversary later this month.


Chung Ying Central is located in the Colmore business district and is a contemporary bar and restaurant.
It is offering festive diners a dim sum platter, festive turkey yuk shung, Peking-style chicken wings, salt and chilli spare ribs, steamed scallops with garlic and soy, beef short ribs in black pepper, crisp sea bass Thai-style, sweet and sour chicken, tonkatsu pork curry, egg-fried rice and vegetarian Singapore noodles.
The price is £30 a head for four or more people and includes a Christmas bellini.
And, for another tenner, crisp aromatic duck with pancakes and XL tiger prawns with ginger and spring onion will be added to the feast.
