Colmore Food Festival: what you can expect to eat

Colmore Food Festival – the annual city centre centre celebration famous for its culinary treats costing no more than £4 each – is almost here.

The event takes place on Friday July 8 and Saturday July 9, featuring more than 30 of the area’s restaurants, cafes, bars and hotels showcasing their latest menus with sumptuous sampler dishes and drinks in Victoria Square.
This year’s event is sponsored by the Opus Family, which will have an Opus Garden in the heart of the festival area.
“We wanted to feature an Opus classic at this year’s Festival – our leek and haddock fishcake with a poached egg and butter sauce,” said Opus managing director Ann Tonks.
“It’s been on our menu from day one and we thought it would be great to serve it this year as the first ever Festival sponsors.
“We also wanted to include a vegetarian and vegan selection and that’s why we’ve come up with the gazpacho.
“You can’t get more summery than a gazpacho, and ours will be made from flavourful heritage tomatoes from the Vale of Evesham.

c1“We thought we would have three dishes this year so we’ve also gone for something sweet: Hereford strawberries with clotted cream sponge.
“This festival is going to be delicious!” added Ann.
To whet your appetites we’ve been given a sneak preview of some of this year’s Festival menus to get a flavour of what will be on offer.
