Here’s what to expect at the Jewellery Quarter’s new weekly street food festival

Birmingham’s booming Jewellery Quarter is getting its first weekly street-food event.

Street Food Fridays is a collaboration between events organiser Taste and Liquor and the JQ’s spit-roast chicken joint Rebel Chicken.

It will feature some of the UK’s best street-food traders , DJs and a bar serving cocktails, craft beer and spirits all night long.

The event launches on Friday November 30.

It’s located at Rebel Chicken, using the indoor space and heated outdoor courtyard.

Doors open from 4pm-11pm and entry is free.

Taste and Liquor kicked off in the Jewellery Quarter so the new weekly event marks a return to its roots.

What The Cluck

Fried chicken served with fries and their secret gravy. For vegans, there are cauliflower bites.  Be warned: this is messy tucker so don’t wear your party frock.

Full Belly

Full Belly is Birmingham’s first Polish street food vendor, serving an ever-changing menu in their full-serviced van, including pierogi – dumplings with a variety of sweet and savoury fillings.

Little Urban BBQ

Ribs, pulled meats, smoky scents and sweet sauces. There’s pulled pork, beef and pork ribs and burnt ends with an array of sauces, rubs and glazes all based on recipes and techniques from Kansas City.


Using his grandmother’s recipes, this trader offers BBQ jerk chicken in peppery hot sauce with fries, coleslaw and jerk gravy. Or turn up the heat and tuck into one of Jamrock special Jamaican-style biryani with rice ’n’ peas, jerk chicken, sweet corn, plantain and homemade pepper pickle.

Veeru Da Dhaba

Indian-fusion offerings inspired by the unique tastes of Indian street cuisine brought by a husband and wife team. Check out the spiced vodka bel puri crisp dumplings.

Rebel Chicken

A selection of fall-off-the-bone chicken cooked on a hot flame roasting spit after being marinated and steamed.
