I have been a food and wine writer for two decades.

After a long and successful working career as a newspaper and online journalist with some of the media industry’s best known titles, I decided to branch out on my own.

I’ve watched Birmingham’s dining scene blossom and I’ve travelled the country and the continents to eat at some of the world’s best restaurants – uncovering some hidden gems along the way.

I’ve appeared on national and local television, radio, at live events, judged numerous culinary competitions and worked as a consultant with some great bars and restaurants.

I’ve always strived to be frank, honest, fair and entertaining in my writing. That remains my aim on these pages.
